High growth episodes among R&D intensive firms: Evidence for Europe, US and Japan

The purpose of this article is three-fold: first, it tests whether inter-industry R&D spillovers are positively associated with the likelihood experiencing high growth episodes among intensive firms in Europe, US and Japan; second, such a relationship conditional on their level absorptive capacity (ACAP); third, acquisition foreign patents, an additional channel to access external knowledge, trigger sub-set firms. For empirical analysis, we focus manufacturing observed between 2002 2017, located Japan. findings support hypotheses suggesting that: a) episodes; b) ACAP conditions c) shares patents high-tech JEL codes: C41, L25, O33.
